Custom wedding veils are perfect for nearlyweds wanting a unique veil for their big day. A custom veil can be anything from simple changes to standard styles to adding lace and embellishments to create a truly one-of-a-kind item. Not into veils? We can also work together to create hair pins or clips embellished to match your style. No matter the item, it all starts with a complimentary consultation.
Meeting in person is the best way to discuss the vision for your custom veil, share inspiration photos, and try on some basic veils as a starting point. At this visit you should bring along any items you would like to add to customize your veil (lace, personal embellishments, etc.) and, if possible, your gown/attire so that we can get a feel for the whole bridal look.
We will talk about options, designs, logistics, and timeline. This is a collaborative process where we work together to design the perfect custom veil or headpiece. From here we move forward with mockups, check-ins, and delivering the final product.
Throughout the fabrication of your custom veil it’s important to me that you get to see where we are at and have an opportunity to request changes. These check-ins can either be in person by appointment, or via text/email, whatever works best for you and your schedule. Typically just one check-up appointment is sufficient, but we can certainly schedule more as needed.
At this final pick-up appointment, we will try on your custom accessories, review storage and transportation, and answer any final questions you may have.
Most often, the bride is providing lace, and I provide all other materials (tulle, comb, pearls, sequins/crystals). The majority of the custom veils I create are made to perfectly match the bridal gown, so the bride will order matching lace from the gown designer through the bridal shop. I do have some small amounts of lace in stock, and we can always work together to source something specific.
How long should you plan for this whole process? In general, I prefer 3-4 months for elaborate projects (significant lace work), and 2-3 months for more simple projects (minimal changes to embellishments, minor lace work). Depending on my overall workload I may be able to take on short timeframe projects, so don’t hesitate to reach out. Timeline will be discussed in the initial consultation. I only take on projects that I am confident can be completed in a reasonable time frame, and delivered no less than 2-3 weeks prior to your wedding date. During the fabrication process we can adjust the timeline if needed for either of us, as long as we discuss it as soon as able.
The price point for custom veils depends on many factors. A more simple custom veil could range from $300-$800, and a more elaborate veil (lots of lace work) generally ranges from $700-$1200. I price every project based on the cost of materials and labor. We will discuss an estimate for your specific project during the consultation, a range will be given, and I will track my time spent on the project to calculate the final cost. Number of appointments/check-ins do not affect cost. A deposit of 50% may be required depending on the scope of the project, with the balance due at pick up.
