Although I had a very different career, bridal has always been my passion and I feel so grateful that I’m able to help brides put that finishing touch on their big day. It’s an honor, and one that I continue to feel with every project.

Working as a bridal stylist allowed me to meet other bridal professionals, and in particular the owner and founder of August Veils. Not a stranger to working hard, when the opportunity to work for her came up I jumped in with both feet! I had been sewing all my life (taught by my mom, and making my own prom dresses) so learning how to apply the small embellishments and add delicate edging was an exciting challenge. She was instrumental in my education about heirloom restyling and how to treat the often delicate items. Andrea and I worked together for several years before her retirement in 2021 and I was thrilled to take on the business!

That experience really taught me the deep emotion of weddings that I hadn’t been able to process as a child. I was certainly one of the stylists that would get misty-eyed when a bride said yes to a dress, because I could see that emotional connection build and the vision of a new chapter in life become reality. Did I mention that I’m a very sentimental person?

It really shouldn’t have been a surprise to me when I fell in love with bridal all over again while helping my sister shop for her wedding gown in 2010. I immediately applied for a job at a local bridal shop and started training right away! Through my time as a stylist I found that while I enjoyed the wedding gowns, it was the veils that really captivated me. It’s amazing how a simple veil can change a formal dress into a wedding gown.

I LOVE weddings. As a kid joining my dad while he DJ’d weddings and receptions I looked forward to seeing the different gowns, decor, colors, and excitement. In middle school when other girls were buying “Seventeen” and “Cosmo Girl” I was buying “Brides” and drooling over the newest trends in bridal fashion and dreaming of maybe becoming a fashion designer.

It’s so exciting that something that I designed could be a memorable heirloom for a bride for years to come
