"Bethany at August Veils removed lace from my maternal grandmother's wedding dress (1957) and repurposed it as part of my veil. Bethany communicated well and created a beautiful veil that was exactly what I wanted.

Grandma was an amazing and inspirational woman, and her marriage to Grandpa is something we aspire to. She passed away in 2015, but I know that she has been watching over us and sending us her blessings."

-Trisha

For this special heirloom restyle, Trisha brought in her Grandma's wedding gown from 1957.  It was such a beautiful gown that had clearly been cared for.  At our first appointment we discussed what about the gown was important to Trisha, and how she might like to incorporate it into her bridal style.  She decided that having a veil with some of the lace would be the perfect addition.  After trying on several veil styles, we picked out the "Caroline" veil, but at a custom length to best suit her needs.  Trisha and I discussed where we should take the lace from and ultimately decided that taking from the skirt first would be the best way to preserve the vintage gown.  With all that decided, it was time to get to work!

First, I carefully removed the lace from the skirt trying to preserve the integrity of the gown as best as possible.  Then, on to cleaning and trimming.  This lace had a particular pattern that made it fairly easy to decide where to trim into smaller pieces.  Next, I started planning the placement of the lace onto her custom length veil.  I was able to text Trisha some pictures and we worked together to get the design just right.  Once we had a good plan, it was time for an in-person appointment to try on the veil with her gown and finalize the design.  Trisha loved how the lace veil melded with her gown so seamlessly!  So, I permanently attached the lace to the veil and it was ready to go for her big day!

Another cherished heirloom item restyled into a modern bridal look.  I love my job!
