Katherine and her mom brought in the most exquisite heirloom item. Worn in 1950 at her Grandma's wedding, this unique piece was cherished for decades before being bought back to life. Bridal wreaths such as this were made of wax flowers and were very common in the 1940's and 50's, unfortunately many of them have not survived due to poor storage (melting in attics). Thankfully, for Katherine, both her grandma and mom stored this item in a hope chest in a climate controlled part of the house.
After some discussion of the item and her overall bridal style, we determined that the wax flowers would make an excellent statement piece that she could wear on the back of her head above the veil. To compliment her more modern style and help give the new headpiece a bit of added oomph, we decided to add small sprays of freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals on gold wire to the item.
The final product was something both modern and classic, that would perfectly compliment her elegant bridal style. As an added sentiment, we also created two small hair pins for her sister and mom to wear, and a small broach for her grandma who was able to attend the wedding.
This was such an incredible piece to work with, and with such love among the three generations, it was something truly special. I'm honored to have been trusted with this rare heirloom.
